Image Sourcing and Rights

Effective Date: July 2026

Home decor is a visual world. A room only really makes sense when you can see it, and that means Nestvique leans on images every single day to show you the ideas we’re writing about. With that comes responsibility, so this page explains exactly how Nestvique sources its photos and what to do if one of them belongs to you.

Our Stance on Images

Nestvique believes every image published on this site is used in a way that follows fair use guidelines or falls under public domain and licensed use terms. We do not set out to use anyone’s work without the right to do so. If a mistake ever happens, it is an oversight, not an intention, and we want to fix it fast.

We Respect the People Behind the Camera

Photographers, illustrators, designers, and brands put real skill into the images that fill this corner of the internet, and Nestvique does not take that lightly. This page exists because we want creators to feel like reaching out is simple, not stressful. If you made something and you found it here, we would rather hear from you directly than have you feel ignored.

Where the Images Come From

Nestvique pulls images from a mix of sources, and we want to lay all of them out clearly.

  • Creative Commons libraries. A large share of the photography on Nestvique comes from platforms like Unsplash, Pexels, Pixabay, Burst, and Flickr Commons, under Creative Commons licenses such as CC0 or CC BY. Where a license requires attribution, Nestvique provides it and keeps the terms of that license.
  • Paid stock photography. Some images are licensed through commercial libraries such as Shutterstock, Adobe Stock, Depositphotos, iStock, Getty Images, or Canva Pro and are used within the terms of those licenses for editorial and blog use.
  • Public domain images. Certain older or archival images used on Nestvique come from sources like Wikimedia Commons, the Library of Congress, and Smithsonian Open Access, where the work is no longer under copyright or has been released for free public use.
  • Original photography. Some images on Nestvique are shot directly by our team for a specific room tour, product roundup, or styling guide. These belong to Nestvique outright.
  • Brand and editorial images. When we cover a specific product, retailer, or design trend, we sometimes include a brand’s own product photo or press image for commentary and review purposes, which falls under fair use. Where required, we credit the brand or photographer.
  • Reader and collaborator submissions. Occasionally, a reader or collaborator sends in a photo of their own space with permission for us to feature it. These are used only with that person’s consent.

Because Nestvique publishes so many roundups and pin graphics, this list covers nearly every image type you’ll find across the site.

How Nestvique Handles Attribution

Where attribution is required, whether that’s a Creative Commons BY license, an editorial mention of a brand, or a fair use commentary photo, Nestvique credits the original creator and links back to the source whenever that’s possible. If a creator ever lets us know that an attribution is missing, outdated, or incorrect, we update it right away.

When Attribution Might Slip

Nestvique publishes a large volume of content, including pins, roundups, and seasonal guides, and across that volume, an image can occasionally end up without full or correct credit. This usually happens because a source link broke, the image had already circulated widely by the time it reached us, or a licensing detail was recorded incorrectly on our end. None of this is deliberate, and Nestvique takes it seriously whenever it’s pointed out.

No Legal Notice Required

If you find your work on Nestvique and something about it doesn’t sit right with you, you do not need to send a formal legal notice or involve a lawyer before reaching out. A short, friendly email is genuinely all it takes. Nestvique would much rather resolve this directly with you than have it turn into anything more complicated than it needs to be.

How Fast Nestvique Responds

Nestvique aims to respond to every rights holder’s request within 48 hours. Simple removal requests are often handled the same business day once we’ve confirmed the details.

What to Do If You Find Your Work Here

If you’re a creator and you spot your image on Nestvique, you have three straightforward options:

  1. Request credit. Ask us to add or correct attribution, including your name, a link to your site or portfolio, or both.
  2. Request a change. Ask us to adjust how the image appears, whether that’s cropping, resizing, adding a watermark, or updating a linked source.
  3. Request removal. Ask us to take the image down entirely, no questions asked.

Just send your request to contact@nestvique.com and let us know which option works for you.

What Helps Us Move Faster

To help Nestvique process your request as quickly as possible, please include:

  • A link to the page on Nestvique where the image appears
  • A link to the original image or proof of ownership, such as your portfolio or website
  • Your name and the best way to reach you
  • Which of the three options above would you prefer: credit, modify, or remove

What Happens Once You Reach Out

Once Nestvique receives your request, we confirm that it’s landed in our inbox, take a reasonable look to verify the details, and then act on the option you chose, whether that’s crediting you properly, adjusting the image, or removing it altogether. After the change is made, we follow up to let you know it’s done.
